Thomas E. Conrad
Zionsville Rotarian of the Year 2013-14

Originally from Kentucky, Tom has had a great life and been able to see a lot of the world. A graduate of Eastern Kentucky University in 1969 he entered the U.S. Army as an Infantry Officer. He retired in 1992 as a Lieutenant Colonel.
Highlights of his career include Operations Officer for 1st Battalion, 35th Armor; Instructor at the Defense Information School (DINFOS) at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Ind.; Managing Editor, Military Review, the U.S. Army’s Professional Journal at Fort Leavenworth, KS; Chief of Public Affairs for U. S. Army Japan and 9th Corps at Camp Zama, Japan; and Deputy Commander, European Stars and Stripes, Germany.
After retirement from the Army he moved to Zionsville, IN. He was the Director of Communications for the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis for three and a half years and dabbled in insurance and investments for a while before retiring for good in 2003.
He is a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity and the Theta Theta Chapter (EKU) Alumni Association; DINFOS (Defense Information School) Alumni Association; The Stars and Stripes Association; and the Rotary Club of Zionsville since 1997. He is active at Christ Church, the Lutheran Church of Zionsville, and volunteers for Habitat for Humanity.
Tom and his wife Rose are now empty nesters having booted four great kids out of the house. They love to garden, golf (Rose) and travel and enjoy helping others.
In the past year, Tom once again went above and beyond his duty as a member of the Rotary Club of Zionsville. Tom's weekly triva contests are a highlight of our meetings. He is always willing to help on any project, and his advice on the board is invaluable. Congratulations, Tom!
